I don’t know all the details, but Xfinity tells me I need their modem because these boxes use a Moca connection.Since the Xi6 is wireless, it's not using MoCA. Xfinity gateways use a "hidden" WiFi network for set-top boxes, even in bridge mode. It's not using your network's resources. Data is counted by what passes through the modem. Your home network setup is not a factor in how data is tabulated. FWIW i have an XB7 in bridge mode and an Xi6.Have them make sure Moca is enabled and network controller option is disabled. You also could check the RSSI levels off your Wi-Fi by the wireless boxes. Several different apps will show you the RSSI level. Place the phone right beside the wireless box and make sure it's -65 or better. -65 is where issues begin. Make sure the WiFi names are combined. Then, unplug the power to all boxes including the modem and do the following in this order. Power on DVR and wait till it has picture, then power on modem and wait till you cansurf the internet as well as verifying MoCA is still on, then power. WiFi boxes one at a time until you get picture.
