John Deere vs. Case IH planters. A bit of histroy, ran I believe it was an 800 IH Cyclo 8 row many years ago, then switched to a JD 7200 8 row, and now have been running a JD 1790 12/24 for 4 seasons and about 6000ac. The thought and discussion is there to upgrade to a 16/31 but the question is Case IH or John Deere??I have a 1780 16/31 john deere planter I cannot get the monitor to work all the time. Sometimes it will work very well and then again it will not work at all. It will tell me its planting when it's not and vice versa. We traded our 1780 and a 16 row 1770 recently for a 1790 16-31. I think they are asking somewhere between 25 and 30 for the 1780. I've seen the problem worse on Deere's 1780 style planter with the longer hitch on the 6/11 or 8/15 planters causing more side pressure on turns. I've always welded the units with no long term problems. The max emerge XP cast shanks first used in 2004 don't have this problem.

John Deere 7200 planter troubles. We have a John Deere 7200 16 row front fold planter that has been giving us troubles for awhile now. First off, we just got it out to get it prepped for planting season. When we try and lift the wing wheels to unfold, right side wing wheels will lift just fine, left side can barely lift itself.
