Anybody figure it out. My 2014 GMC Acadia Just started do the same exact thing!! Temp gauge drops to straight down, Fan blowing full and loud, A/C still Blows but Not cold and the recirculation button flashes. Kind of odd that it is the 2014's that have started doing this. Here are the symptoms: 1) Engine Overheating/Turn off A/C message flashing. 2) Engine temp in traffic with A/C on runs close to 250. 3) Engine temp without A/C on runs around 240. 4) Turning the heater on brings the temp down to 220-230.
